Wanda Brown

Wanda Lee Brown, 84, of Macomb, formerly of Vermont, died at 2:40 a.m. Oct. 25, 2011, at The Elms in Macomb.

She was born Dec. 8, 1926, in Oakland Township, Schuyler County, a daughter of Roy and Nellie Morrell Heaton. She married Vorice Brown in 1947. He preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 2007.

Also preceding her in death were three sisters, Ida "Poodge" Parr, Nedra Andrews and Melba Rhodes; and one brother, Franklin "Bud" Heaton.

Surviving are two sons, Jack Brown of Vermont and Stanley (and Lynn) Brown of Clarksdale, Mo.; one daughter, Georgia Sue (and Scott) Jones of Industry; one sister, Marjorie Wherley of Macomb; two brothers, Jim (and Opal) Heaton of Astoria and Stanley "Bill" Heaton of Quincy; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She worked at Casey's Restaurant in Vermont, Vermont State Bank, AMAX Coal Company and Western Illinois University.

She was a member of Vermont Christian Church and Vermont American Legion Auxiliary.

Services were held Saturday at Vermont Christian Church with Pastor Dave Vandeman officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to The Elms, McDonough District Hospice or Vermont Christian Church.
