Mildred Butler

Mildred E. Butler, 85, of Astoria died at 2:50 p.m. Oct. 17, 2010, at Havana Healthcare Center.

She was born Jan. 9, 1925, in Macomb, a daughter of John and Ellen Harris Hamilton. She married Thomas M. Butler on June 22, 1947, in Bardolph. He survives.

Also surviving are two sons, John M. Butler of Astoria and Joseph R. Butler of Decatur; one daughter, Ellen (and Bill) Noblitt of Decatur; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Anabel Hamilton Soper; and one brother, William Robert Hamilton.

She was an art and English teacher for many years. She also was a home study teacher for many years.

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church USA in Decatur and Ipava.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Rev. Danie deBeer officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday at the memorial home. Burial will be in Hickory Cemetery in Astoria.
