Bernard BucherBernard M. Bucher, 92, of Macomb died at 8:15 p.m. Nov. 5, 2008, at Bickford Cottage in Macomb.

He was born Oct. 6, 1916, in Astoria, a son of Harvey and Stella McCormick Bucher. He married Priscilla Dixon on June 19, 1940, in Lewistown. She preceded him in death on April 15, 2002.

He also was preceded in death by one sister, Christine “Peg” Danner.

Surviving are one daughter, Karen (and James) Gray of Macomb; one brother, Hobart Bucher of Peoria; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He graduated from University of Illinois in 1937. He was a flight controller in his early life in California and Kansas City. He sold cars for Lock’s Auto in Astoria and Canton and Max Howe Moters in Macomb.

He was a partner for Purdum-Bucher-Gray Insurance from 1958 to 1983.

He was a member of Macomb Elks Club, Macomb Kiwanis and Macomb Country Club. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church of Macomb and was past president of Wesley Village Board.

Graveside services were held Saturday at Astoria Cemetery with Rev. Steven Smith officiating. Cremation has been accorded. Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
