Neva BartlettNeva R. Bartlett, 97, of Rushville, formerly of Industry, died at 9:55 p.m. July 26, 2008, at Culbertson Long Term Care Facility in Rushville.

She was born Nov. 27, 1910, in Brooklyn Township, Schuyler County, a daughter of John Frankin and Ella Maud Johnson Reeves. She married Jesse Davis Bartlett on May 20, 1937, in Vandalia. He died March 28, 1996.

Surviving are two sons, Richard R. (and Mary Anne) Bartlett of Quincy and Larry J. (and Bonnie) Bartlett of Prairie City; one brother, Herschel “Sug” (and Maureen) Reeves of Rushville; one sister, Reatha Blackburn of Macomb; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Hallie Reeves.

She attended Western Illinois Teacher’s College for two years and taught in Schuyler County for 13 years at Fairview, Brooklyn and Huntsville and later at Flat Iron schools.

After moving from Littleton to Industry in 1947, she was a census taker in 1950. She worked many years at Price’s Store in Industry.

She was a member of Industry United Methodist Church, Industry Eastern Star and Rebekah Lodge and VLX Club. She held district offices for United Methodist Women.

She and her husband moved to Rushville in 1992, where both volunteered at Schuyler Jail Museum and Genealogical Center. In June 2003, due to her health, she entered Culbertson Long Term Care Facility.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Pastor Aaron Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Littleton Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to Schuyler Jail Museum and Genealogical Center or the Culbertson Long Term Care Facility, including its Activity Fund.
