Reatha BlackburnReatha Jane Blackburn, 103, of Macomb, formerly of Brooklyn, died at 11:50 p.m. Nov. 29, 2018, at Bickford Senior Living in Macomb.

She was born May 31, 1915, in Brooklyn, the daughter of John Franklin and Ella Maud Johnson Reeves. She married Cyril Eugene “Cy” Blackburn on Aug. 4, 1934, in Eureka. He passed away March 26, 2002.

Surviving are one son, Jim (and Sally Jo) Blackburn of Brooklyn; three grandchildren, JoAnn (and Dennis) Billingsley, Marcia (and Kerry) Azbell of Bernard, Iowa, and Dave (and Denise) Blackburn of Brooklyn; 11 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Gene Blackburn; two brothers, Hallie Reeves and John Herschel “Sug” Reeves; one sister, Neva Bartlett; and two grandsons, Steve Blackburn and Mark Blackburn.

She graduated from the Brooklyn three-year high school. She continued her education to graduate from Augusta High School in 1933.

She was a member of United Methodist Church where she played the piano, the Brooklyn United Methodist Women, the Brooklyn Home Extension and Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She taught piano lessons in the Brooklyn area for many years.

She was a farm wife and a care giver for many family members.

Funeral services were held Monday at Brooklyn United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Wise and Mr. David Haney officiating. Burial was in Brooklyn Cemetery. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
