Jesse Bartlett

Jesse D. Bartlett, 88, of Rushville, died at 4:41 a.m. Thursday, March 28, 1996, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

He was born March 4, 1908, in Littleton Township, Schuyler County, a son of Asa W. and Lelia E. Hale Bartlett. He married Neva Reeves on May 20, 1937, in Vandalia. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Richard R. Bartlett of Quincy and Larry J. Bartlett of Prairie City; one brother, William Bartlett of Rushville; one sister, Ruth Shaw of Astoria; and four granddaughters.

One brother preceded him in death.

He was a school teacher and principal in Schuyler County and Industry for 38 years. He later worked at State Bank of Industry for nine years, retiring in 1973. He was Industry village clerk for several years. He was a member of Industry United Methodist Church. He was a charter member of Industry Kiwanis Club and Industry Masonic Lodge 327, AF&AM. He was a 30-year member of Industry Fire Department and volunteered at Schuyler County Jail Museum.

Funeral services were held Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home with Marshall Litchfield officiating. Burial was in Littleton Cemetery.

Masonic services were held at his lodge.

Memorials may be made to his church, Industry Kiwanis, Industry Masonic Lodge, Industry Fire Department, Schuyler Jail Museum or Industry Pin Hook Park.
