A. William Bartlett

Asa William Bartlett Jr., 75, of Rushville, died at 5:18 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

He was born Sept. 15, 1923, in Buena Vista Township, Schuyler County, a son of Asa William Sr. and Lelia Hale Bartlett. He married Clarice Landreth on May 11, 1946, in Rushville. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Jerry of rural Frederick and David of Macomb; one daughter, Mrs. David (Rebecca) Kilpatrick of Round Mountain, Nev.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one sister, Ruth Shaw of Astoria.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

He farmed for most of his life on the family farm where he was born. He also was employed by the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office and the Illinois Department of Agriculture, retiring in 1986. He served as treasurer of the Sarah D. Culbertson Memorial Hospital Board for several years. He was a member of Lincolnland Depression Era Glass Club and the Illinois Valley Depression Era Glass Club. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church.

Services were held Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Tomich officiating. Burial was in Littleton Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to his church or the Sarah D. Culbertson Memorial Hospital Foundation.
