ROBERT "BOB" BURKS

Robert Burks

Robert “Bob” Burks died May 1, 2008, in Vancouver, Wash.

He was born Feb. 12, 1927, in Fulton, Mo., a son of Samuel O. and Edith Moore Burks.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara; one daughter, Debra Lynn (and Tracy) Weaver of Alexandria, Minn.; four brothers, Leo (and Dolores), Frank (and Sharon), Russell and Walter (and Judy); and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and William.

He graduated from Ipava High School in 1945.

He later graduated from Western Illinois State Teacher’s College in 1950. He taught for one year in Illinois.

In 1951, Bob relocated to Richland, Wash.

He served as an inspector in Washington and California with the GSA, a branch of the United States Defense Department.

He attended Presbyterian Church in San Mateo, Calif., and Vancouver.

He was a life member of the Elks Club.

Services were held May 4, and May 6 with Rev. Chris Montiveno and Rev. Tracy Weaver officiating. Einan’s Funeral Home in Washington was in charge of arrangements.
