John BowmanJohn Rolland Bowman, 69, of Rushville died at 10:17 a.m. Nov. 15, 2007, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital emergency room in Rushville.

He was born Monday, Dec. 20, 1937, in Lee Township, Brown County, a son of Ralph E. and Alta M. Hughes Bowman. He married Betty Jane Lerch on May 16, 1960, in Rushville. She died March 5, 2004.

He also was preceded in death by one brother, Vernon Bowman; and one sister, Norma Foiles.

Surviving are his special friend, Louise Huett of Rushville; two sons, David Bowman and Tim Bowman (and companion Debbie Lipcamon), both of Rushville; one daughter, Rhonda (and Mark) Coil of Rushville; two brothers, Joe (and Joyce) Bowman of Rushville and Truman Bowman of Bartonville; one sister, Pauline Parsano of Rushville; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was a veteran serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. from June 6, 1956, to April 10, 1958.

He was a maintenance supervisor at Snyder Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Rushville.

He was a former Schuyler County Democratic committeeman and served on the Schuy-Rush Park Board from 1973 to the present time.

Services were held Monday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Paul Arnold officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery with military rites conducted by Schuyler Post #4 and the U.S. Marine Corps. Honor Guard.
