Forrest D. Beaird, 87, of Glen Arbor, Mich., died May 10, 2007, at Bortz Healthcare Center.
He was born Jan. 29, 1920, in Ipava, the son of James and Addie Rauch Beaird. He married Mary Catherine Dean on Nov. 3, 1948, in Geneseo. She survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Jeane L. Beaird of Traverse City, Mich., and Dr. Janis Beaird of Northport, Ala.; and one sister, Nina Patia of Springfield.
He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, where he earned the Purple Heart.
He graduated from Ipava High School. He was a farmer.
He was a member of Glen Lake Community Reformed Church.
He was a member of the Illinois State Stock Horse Association and supervised the county 4-H horse show. He served as director of the Spoon River Electric Co-op for several years and was treasurer for the Astoria School Board. He also was a member of the Masons and the American Legion for almost 60 years.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at his church with Pastor Steve Wing officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home in Traverse City is in charge of arrangements.
