Delores BaileyDelores Virginia Bailey, 62, of Ipava died at 2:46 p.m. Feb. 21, 2007, at St. John’s Hospice in Springfield.

She was born March 5, 1944, near Chandlerville, the daughter of James F. and Rosalind B. Everhart Otto. She married Herbert J. Smith in 1961. She later married Rodney Bailey in 1981 in Havana. He survives.

Also surviving are her father of Chandlerville; her mother, Rosalind B. Hammack of Astoria; her stepfather, Ivan Logue of Easton; her first husband of Virden; three sons, Herbert J. Smith II of Jacksonville, Robert I. (and Cheri) Smith of Rochester and Rock Lee Bailey of Ipava; four daughters, Suzanna R. (and Brad) Stephens and Pamela J. DeJanovich, both of Springfield, Melissa J. Bailey of Peoria and Gerri (and Jeremy) Stinson of Carbondale; two brothers, David C. (and Irma) Otto and Cecil C. Otto, both of Chandlerville; four half brothers, John Otto of Chesapeake Beach, Mass., Eugene (and Melissa) Otto and Jeff (and Elizabeth) Otto, both of Perryton, Texas, and James Otto of Lincoln, Neb.; and two step-brothers, David E. (and Wanita) Hammack of Vermont and Raymond Hammack of Astoria; and 11 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Kay Smith; one son, Bobby Lee Bailey; and her stepfather, Dale Hammack.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Havana. She was a graduate of Petersburg PORTA High School, attended classes at Sangamon State University, and received her associates degrees in general education and nursing from Lincoln Land College in Springfield. She was a registered nurse.

Services were held Saturday at Hurley Funeral Home in Havana with Rev. Stephen Engelbrecht officiating. Burial was in Summum Cemetery.
