HAZEL B. (EASLEY) BANKES

Hazel Bankes

Hazel B. Bankes, 90, of Creve Coeur died at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at Pekin Hospital in Pekin.

She was born Sept. 13, 1915, in Astoria, the daughter of Joseph and Dollie Trone Easley. She married Nyle L. Bankes on March 17, 1934, in Astoria. He died Feb. 1, 1964.

Also preceding her in death was one son, Kenneth; and two brothers.

Surviving are three sons, Bernard (and Rose) of East Peoria, Michael (and Nicole) of Morton and Stephen of Creve Coeur, with whom she lived for several years; one daughter, Dollie Pokarney of Mapleton; eight grandchldren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was a member of Creve Coeur Christian Church, where she worked in the kitchen for Vacation Bible School for many years.

Services were Sunday at Deiters Funeral Home in East Peoria with Rev. Jim Gorby officiating. Graveside services were Monday at Union Chapel Cemetery in Astoria.

Memorials may be made to Washington Christian Village.
