Ferne Bucher

Ferne M. Bucher, 91, of Astoria died at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 17, 2002, at Astoria Gardens.

She was born May 25, 1911, in Woodland Township, a daughter of John and Elizabeth Etter Kessler. She married Isaac G. Bucher on May 7, 1932, in Canton. He died April 1, 1981.

She also was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Surviving are five sons, Jim (and Susie) of Macomb, Willie (and Nellie) of Astoria, Bob (and Susie) of Ipava, Albert (and Marsha) of Astoria and Thomas (and Debbie) of Tucson, Ariz.; two daughters, Carolyn (and Rodney) Bricker of Greeley, Colo., and Alice (and Wendell) Clanin of Astoria; 17 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; three stepgreat-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She had been a cook at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville for several years.

She was a member of Woodland Church of the Brethren in Astoria.

Services were held Tuesday at Shawgo Memorial Home with Rev. Kevin Kessler officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Astoria Township Cemetery Association, Astoria Rescue Squad or the Astoria Public Library.
