Dorothy Belville

Dorothy Belville, 80, formerly of 617 March St., Beardstown, died Sunday, July 27, 1997, at Heritage Manor East.

She was born March 25, 1917, in Bushnell, a daughter of Sidney Calvin and Stella Anita Mikesell DeWitt. She married Hallie Belville on June 16, 1940, in Palmyra, Mo. He died March 22, 1985. She also was preceded in death by three sisters.

Surviving are one step-daughter, Winifred Sigel of Oak Park; three brothers, Sidney DeWitt Jr. of Browning, Jack DeWitt of Springfield and Thomas DeWitt Sr. of Beardstown; one sister, Maxine DeWitt of Beardstown; and several nieces and nephews.

During World War II, she was employed at North Island Naval Air Station in San Diego. She also worked at the Wells-Lamont Glove Factory in Beardstown and was a cook at Browning School for several years. She was a member of Central Christian Church in Browning.

Services were held this morning at Sager Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Sheese officiating. Burial was in Browning Cemetery.
