Chester Ray Brown, 47, of Danville and a former resident of the Lewistown area and Peoria, died at the Danville Veterans Administration Hospital at 5:40 a.m. Tuesday, May 23, 1995.

He was born in Bernadotte Twp., Fulton Co. on Sept. 2, 1947, a son of James Franklin and Virginia R. (Stanley) Brown.

He is survived by his mother, Virginia Reed of Pekin; two brothers, George Brown of Beloit, Wis., and R. Dean Brown of Topeka; two sisters, Cynthia “Cindy” Tarvin of Forest City and Shirley Crabtree of Pekin.

He was preceded in death by his father, a stepfather, his grandparents and two brothers.

He graduated in 1969 from Platteville College at Platteville, Wis. He served with the United States Army for six years. He had worked as a chef in both Florida and Peoria prior to moving to Danville. He was raised in the Christian faith.

Graveside services were held Tuesday at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with Rev. Barbara Short officiating. Henry Memorial Home in Lewistown was in charge of arrangements.
