Galen F. Brillhart Dies At Age 80

Galen F. Brillhart, 80, of Astoria, died at 8:40 a.m. Friday, Feb. 6, 1987, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital, Rushville.

He was born Sept. 29, 1906, in Summum, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Olbert) Brillhart. He married Dorothy Derry Aug. 9, 1933, in Canton. She survives. 

Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Bill (Helen) Johnson of Mt. Carmel, Mrs. Bill (Harriett) Lockard of Canton and Mrs. Angelo (Hollie) Serpe of Harrisburg, Pa.; one son, Randy Brillhart of Mt. Carmel; 14 grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Rosa Conner of Astoria. 

He was preceded in death by one grandchild, two brothers and three sisters.

He was a member of Astoria Christian Church for 38 years, a retired farmer, drove a school bus for the Astoria school district for nine years, was employed by International Harvester, Astoria Fibra-Steel, and worked for the village of Astoria in the water department. 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Astoria Christian Church with Rev. Jim Comstock and Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in the Summum Cemetery.
