Mrs. Evelyn K. Brown, 69, of 338 E. Ash St., Canton, died at 5:15 a.m. Tuesday, May 28, 1985, at her home.
She was born May 6, 1916, in Rushville, the daughter of Alfred and Ida LaFern (Cook) Cox. She married Howard M. Brown Nov. 26, 1936, in Canton. He survives.
Other survivors include her father of Canton; one son, Gordon Brown of Havana; a nephew, David Barclay, of Godfrey, who was reared in the Brown home; three grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; five sisters, Mrs. Francis (Helen) Monette and Mrs. Richard (Virginia) Clark, both of Canton, Mrs. Ivan (Margaret) Strode of Turlock, Calif., Mrs. Dale (Charlotte) Sexton of Havana, and Mrs. Dwight (Marilyn) Pierce of Manito.
She was preceded in death by her mother.
She worked for many years for the Argus-Searchlight in Astoria before moving to Canton. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and was Past Chief of Pythian Sisters of Astoria. She was a member of Canton Women of the Moose Lodge.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Mursphy-Sedgwick Memorial Home in Canton with Rev. Delmar Smith officiating. Burial will be in White Chapel Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the memorial home.
