Howard Brown

Howard M. Brown, 88, of Canton died at 10:20 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2001, at Heartland Health Care Center.

He was born March 9, 1913, in Stevens Point, Wis., a son of Joseph M. and Lillie Belle Pollard Brown. He married Evelyn Cox on Nov. 25, 1936, in Canton. She died in May 1985.

He also was preceded in death by three brothers.

Surviving are one son, Gordon (and Portia) of Havana; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Hilda Shaw of Canton.

He farmed in the Canton and Astoria areas for several years and then served as a Fulton County sheriff's deputy for 15 years before retiring in 1981.

He was a member of Fulton County Farm Bureau and Canton Moose Lodge 784.

He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Canton.

Services were held at 11 a.m. today at Oaks-Hines Funeral Home with Rev. Paul Walles officiating. Burial was in White Chapel Memory Gardens.
