Mrs. J. Bohannon Of Ipava Dies

Mrs. Josephine H. “Josie” Bohannon, 89, of Ipava, died at 8:24 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1981, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.

She was born Oct. 1, 1891, near Ipava, the daughter of Joseph and Magdelena Brockley Bohannon. She married Thomas G. Bohannon Nov. 21, 1915, in Henderson County, Ky. He preceded her in death Oct. 2, 1974.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Glade (Sarah) Groff of Ipava; one son, Robert of Aurora; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two half sisters, a half brother and a grandchild.

She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Ipava and taught in the Elrod, Number 10, and Bernadotte rural schools.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Ipava Presbyterian Church with Rev. Gary Hardesty officiating. Burial was in the Ipava Cemetery.
