Glade Groff

Glade GroffGlade Groff, 92, of Ipava died at 2:05 a.m. Monday, March 20, 2006, at his home.

He was born Nov. 13, 1913, in Pleasant Township, Fulton County, a son of Eli and Pernina Gossage Groff. He married Sarah Bohannon on Aug. 28, 1940, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Tom (and Sandy) of Bartonville and Gary (and Barbara) of Arlington, Texas; one daughter, Ruth (and Ronald) Frey of Picayune, Miss.; three grandchildren; 11 step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; 18 step-great-grandchldren; three great-great-grandchildren; and two step-great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph, Floyd, and Maro; and four sisters, Clela Thompson, Ferne McLaren, Flora Batterton and Mettie Shawgo.

He was a farmer in the Ipava area all his life.

He was a member of Ipava Christian Church where he served as a trustee. He was also a member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau. He was a former board member of the Ipava Farmer's Elevator and the Wealdon School.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Ipava Christian Church in Ipava with Pastor Kevin Kessler and Pastor Ray Greenfield officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava. Burial will be in Ipava Cemetery in Ipava.

Memorials may be made to McDonough District Hospice or his church.
