William Bair Of Canton Dies

William (Fred) Bair, 69, of 152 E. Ash St., Canton, died at 4:50 p.m., Sunday, Mar. 29, 1981, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born Sept. 26, 1911, in Astoria, a son of William and Mary Elizabeth (Gaines) Bair. He married Nancy Elizabeth Lawson Dec. 31, 1938, in Palmyra, Mo. She survives.

He worked at International Harvester Co., retiring Nov. 1, 1971, after 30 years. He was a member of Retirees Local 1357, UAW Local 135 and the United Methodist Church of Vermont.

Also surviving are two sons, John of Canton and Russell of Cuba; three daughters, Mrs. Nellie Keime of Smithfield, Mrs. Mary Clausen of Franklin, Tenn., and Miss Carolyn Bair, at home; seven grandchildren; three brothers, Herschel of Beardstown, Carl of Vermont and Herschel Eugene of Memphis, Tenn.; four sisters, Mrs. Maye Parker of Astoria, Mildred Fisher of Peoria, Mrs. Pauline Aten of Vermont and Mrs. Nellie Palmer of Colorado Springs, Colo.

A son and two brothers preceded him in death.

Funeral services were to be at 10:30 a.m. today at Oaks Memorial Chapel with Dr. Robert Holler and Rev. S. F. Hicke officiating. Burial will be in Vermont Cemetery.
