Jesse G. Bishop Of Astoria Dies

Jesse G. Bishop, 82, of Astoria, died at 7:15 a.m. Wednesday, Apr. 2, 1975, at Nursing Center of Canton.

He was born May 31, 1892, in Schuyler County, a son of George and Martha Grisham Bishop. He married Lena Kohlenberger on Aug. 6, 1914, in St. Louis. She survives.

Also surviving are seven sons, Eldon, Leland and Delbert Bishop, all of Canton, Jesse and Ulysses Bishop, both of Bryant, Gerald Bishop of Seaside, Calif., and Darrel Bishop of Astoria; six daughters, Mrs. Leola Putt and Mrs. Twila Whitehead, both of Canton, Mrs. Hazel Brown and Mrs. Lola Kline, both of Lewistown, Mrs. Louise Hendren of Moberly, Mo., and Mrs. Karen Harris of Taylorville; 35 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; a great, great-grandchild; and a sister, Mrs. Sarah Gerner of Peoria.

Two sons, two daughters, three brothers and a sister died earlier.

Mr. Bishop retired in 1957 from the Trucking Department of the International Harvester Co.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday morning at Oaks Memorial Chapel in Canton with Rev. S. Jay Curry officiating. Burial was in Maryville Cemetery at Bryant.
