Laura AzbellLaura May Azbell, 95, of Ipava died at 1:20 p.m. June 29, 2023, at her home.

She was born Nov. 27, 1927, in Vermont Township, Fulton County, the daughter of Carl and Ruth Snowden Ellison. She married Donald Azbell on June 21, 1952, in Ipava. He preceded her in death on Feb. 21, 2005.

She also was preceded in death by one brother, Keith Ellison.

Surviving are one son, Scott Azbell of Quincy; eight nieces and nephews, Kathy (and John) Watson of Lewistown, Ruth Ann Ellison and Kim Azbell, both of Ipava, Kristi (and Wayne) Little of Centennial, Colo., Kevin (and Evelyn) Azbell of Phillips, Wis., Kerry (and Marcia) Azbell of Bernard, Iowa, Lori (and Mark) Rose and Lance Azbell; several great-nieces and nephews; and one great-great-nephew.

She was a bookkeeper for Burgard Chevrolet in Ipava for 11 years. She later became owner and operator of Azbell Hardware in Ipava for 25 years with her husband.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star #226 for over 60 years, where she served as treasurer. She also was a member of Ipava United Presbyterian Church where she served as church treasurer, Sunday School treasurer and as an elder. She also was a member of the choir and bell choir in the church. She helped organize Ipava High School reunions for several years.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Ipava United Presbyterian Church with Pastor Kevin Kessler officiating. A visitation will take place from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the church in Ipava. Burial will be held in the Ipava Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria is in charge of arrangements.
