She was born April 28, 1929, in Rushville, a daughter of William and Stella McDonald Smith. She married Richard Ashcraft on Jan. 22, 1950, in Rushville. He preceded her in death on Jan. 24, 1998.
She also was preceded in death by two grandsons, Ricky and Michael Ashcraft; and one sister, Mary Lucille Peppler.
Surviving are one son, Rick (and Carolyne) Ashcraft of Rushville; one grandson, Jamie (and Susan) Ashcraft; and five great-grandchildren.
She worked for Cudahy’s, Mickelberry’s and Bartlow Brothers, all in Rushville. She worked at Oscar Mayer in Beardstown for 14 years, retiring in 1988.
She was a member of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Rushville and the Schuyler County Republican Women.
A private family service will be held at the Rushville City Cemetery with Pastor Jason Triplett officiating. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.
