Charlie AndersonCharlie W. Anderson, 87, of Macomb died at 1:50 p.m. Jan. 31, 2020, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

He was born Oct. 6, 1932, in Ray, the son of William and Zelda Jones Anderson. He married Jean A. Bucher on Oct. 18, 1952, in Astoria. She preceded him in death on Jan. 2, 1988. He then married LaVern E. Howe on July 5, 1991, in Astoria. She preceded him in death on Aug. 12, 2018.

Surviving are one son, Robert (and Doris) Anderson of Williamsville; two daughters, Cindy Branch and Debra L. Anderson Sutton, both of Macomb; two stepdaughters, Judy Kennedy of Sarcoxi, Mo., and Linda Kaufman of Normal; one stepson, Thomas (and Glenda) Howe of Astoria; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; 10 step grandchildren; and 17 step great-grandchildren.

He was a mechanic for Bader Motor Company in Astoria for three years. He then went to work for GTE in 1958 and worked for them as a lineman and then technician for 30 years, retiring in 1988.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving from 1953-55 with a rank of Corporal. He was stationed in Germany and worked in the motor pool, repairing all types of military vehicles.

He was a member of Maple Avenue Christian Church in Macomb.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Robert Anderson officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Friday. Burial will be at Astoria Cemetery with military rites provided by the Astoria American Legion Post #25.
