Ferris "Bud" AllenFerris Wayne "Bud" Allen, 72, of Camden died at 8:05 p.m. Dec. 27, 2012, at Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy.

He was born May 6, 1940, in Schuyler County, a son of Gilbert and Julia Prunty Allen. He married Linda Gabbert on April 23, 1960, in Camden. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Lloyd L. (and Diana) Allen of Macomb, Gilbert K. (and Alice) Allen of Ft. Polk, La., and James T. (and Mandy) Allen of Divernon; two brothers, Jerry Dean Allen of Clayton and Terry Lavern (and Lela) Allen of Canton; two sisters, Norma Alene Kindhart and Judith Ann (and Jim) Robeson, both of Rushville; and seven grandchildren.

He served in the U.S. Army from October 1961 through July 1982, retiring as a master sergeant in charge of the motor pool. After his retirement, he and his wife moved back to Camden. He was a truck driver for Schuyler Grain, worked at Titan Wheel in Quincy and Illinois State Police Weigh Station in Carlock.

He attended Camden United Methodist Church and was a member of Disabled American Veterans. He also was a Boy Scout master for the Order of the Arrow.

Services were held Monday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Carl Wiggins officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery with military rites by U.S. Army Burial Detail and Schuyler American Legion Post #4.

Memorials may be made to Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home, Schuyler Jail Museum and Genealogical Center in Rushville or Schuyler Veterans Commission.
