DR. WENDELL W. ANDERSON

Dr. Wendell W. Anderson, 54, of Carterville, died at 1:20 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 1997, at home after a brief illness.

He was born Oct. 26, 1943, in Peoria, the son of Arvin Neal and Della Rose Graham Anderson. He married Vennie Jones Wiggins on June 22, 1986, in Harrisburg. She survives.

Also surviving are his parents of Vermont; one step-daughter, Kim Bear of Marion; one sister, Sherill Qazzaz of Farmington, Mo.; one foster brother, Jeff Hinderliter of Vermont; one grandmother, Dorothy Graham of Canton; and several aunts, uncles, cousins and nephews.

He was a 1973 graduate of Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, Tenn., and was an optometrist at Marion Wal-mart Vision Center. Prior to working at Wal-Mart, he was an optometrist at Sim Optics in Harrisburg. He was a member of the American Optometric Association, Illinois Optometric Association and the Southern Illinois Chapter of American Mensa, Ltd. He served in the U.S. Army during 1961 through 1964.

Services were held Friday at VanNatta Funeral Home in Herrin. Memorials may be made to TIP of Illinois Hospice or the American Cancer Society.
