Mattie M. Alteen, 91, of the Care Center of Abingdon the past six months, died at 9:35 a.m. Tuesday, July 4, 1989, at Cottage Hospital in Galesburg.
She was born May 6, 1898, in Vermont, a daughter of James and Sarah Hickle Ring. She married Lloyd Alteen in Galesburg on Jan. 14, 1922. He died Sept. 28, 1966. Three sisters and one brother also preceded her in death.
She lived in Galesburg before moving to Abingdon 20 years ago and was a member of Abingdon New Horizons.
She is survived by a son, Tom of Abingdon; and nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Friday in Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens, Galesburg with Rev. George Terry officiating.
