Carroll Crouse
He was born July 4, 1941, in Litterberry, a son of Ruel Crouse and Elizabeth Williams. He married Joyce Ann Goveia on Sept. 19, 1966. She survives. Also surviving are two children, Dave (and Brenda) Crouse of Ipava and Shelly (and Jim) Herndon of Adair; one brother, Ron (and Nancy) Crouse of Fairview; one sister, Patricia Wood of Grady, Ala.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by six brothers, James, Robert, Ruel, Kenneth, Virgil and Bill; and two sisters, Mary and Shirly. He worked at Consol Coal in Norris and Buckheart Coal in Canton, before going to Caterpillar in 1968, where he spent 30 years before retiring in 1998. He owned and operated Carroll’s Lawn Care for many years. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Pastor Kevin Kessler officiating. A visitation will take place from 9-11 a.m. prior to the service on Saturday. His final resting place will be in the Ipava Cemetery. Military Rites will be provided by the Ipava American Legion.
