Englebert “Bert” L. Zahn, 86, of Stevens Point, Wis., formerly of Astoria, died at 12:52 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 1995 at Portage County Healthcare Center in Stevens Point.
He was born Oct. 19, 1908 in Bevier, Mo., a son of George and Mary Krider Zahn. He married Dessie Ronchetto on June 19, 1937 in Macon, Mo. She preceded him in death on Feb. 13, 1994. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Carol, four brothers and one sister.
He is survived by two daughters, Janice Ronchetto of Stevens Point, Wis. and Gloria Zahn of Sheboygen, Wis.; one son, Larry Zahn of Sheboygen, Wis.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He was employed by Peabody Coal Co. of Missouri and Illinois for 36 years, retiring in 1975. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of America.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. this morning at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Collis Trone officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery.
