Louise WardLouise Ward, 94, of Beardstown, formerly of Rushville, died Sept. 30, 2023, at Beardstown Health and Rehab Center.

She was born Feb. 23, 1929, in Huntsville Township, Schuyler County, the daughter of Ernest and Lorena Hightower Davis. She married Edward L. Ward on Aug. 15, 1948, in Rushville. He preceded her in death on Oct. 8, 2012.

Surviving are two daughters, Donna (and Bob) Martin of Rushville and Barbara (and Donald “Opie”) Mustered of Easton; two twin sons, Rick Ward of Astoria and Randy (and Joy) Ward of Easton; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Merle Davis (wife Maxine, also deceased) of rural Havana.

She graduated from Rushville Community High School with the class of 1946. Ed and Louise lived in Rushville until the early 1960s when they moved to rural Topeka. They later lived at rural Easton in Mason County. During these years, she worked as a cook for the Easton Community School District. After that, she worked in retail at Alco (formerly Hornsby’s) in Havana.

In the 1980s, they returned to Rushville. She was a member of Rushville First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

Funeral services were held Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville with Rev. Rob Kirkham officiating. Interment was in Rushville City Cemetery.
