Don "Gene" WelkerDon Eugene “Gene” Welker, 75, of Lewistown died at 12:42 p.m. June 16, 2015, at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born Jan. 3, 1940, in Bernadotte, a son of Don B. and Jeanette E. Angelo Welker. He married Sandra Easley on Sept. 16, 1962, in Lewistown. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Barton (and Julia) Welker and Scott (and Lisa) Welker, both of Lewistown; one brother, Norman (and Virginia) Welker of Macomb; one sister, Jane (and Jim) Nappin of Lewistown; and six grandchildren.

He worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company for 30 years, retiring in 1996 as a dispatcher. He then worked as an over-the-road trucker.

He was Corporal in the United States Marine Corps from 1958-62.

He was a member of Lewistown United Methodist Church and the Lewistown American Legion Post #1.

Services were held Saturday at his church with Pastor Deryck Sonaram officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown with military rites provided by the Lewistown American Legion and Lewistown VFW Post. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
