Ethel WrightEthel M. Wright, 97, of Vermont died at 7:25 a.m. Dec. 10, 2014, at The Elms in Macomb.

She was born July 22, 1917, in Red Clyffe, Pa., a daughter of Cleveland and Leona M. Walters. She married Cecil Wright Jr. on March 3, 1945, in New Orleans, La. He preceded her in death on April 26, 2011.

She also was preceded in death by two sons, Cecil and George Wright; one brother, Garden Walters; and one sister, Olive Stitt.

Surviving are one daughter, Cecilia (and John) Kost of Vermont; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She worked as a block operator for Pennsylvania Railroad. She moved to New Orleans and worked for Todd Johnson Shipyard and as a Street Car Operator. After moving to Vermont, Ethel worked at Vermont Foundry for nine years and was owner/operator of Vermont Cafe for six years.

She was a member of Vermont Christian Church and Vermont American Legion Auxiliary.

Services were held Friday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Gary Sheets officiating. Burial was in Vermont Cemetery.
