Roy WickertRoy D. Wickert, 70, a resident of Naperville since 1970, died Jan. 19, 2014, at his home.

Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Exley Wickert; two children, Aaron Wickert and Melissa (and Ed) Krzyzanowski; one stepdaughter, Megan (and Frank) Klupshas; his mother, Violet Wickert of Astoria; four brothers, Carroll G. Wickert of California, W. Dean Wickert of Florida, Dennis L. Wickert of Springfield and Quentin L. Wickert of Crystal Lake; two grandchildren; and one step grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ronal Wickert; a sister, Glenna May Wickert; and an infant son, Eric Wickert.

He was born in rural Ipava, grew up in Summum and graduated from Astoria Community High School. He attended Western Illinois University where he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity.

He spent four years in the Navy and was a member of the drill team while stationed at Great Lakes. He had a top secret security clearance and worked with cryptographic materials while stationed in Washington, DC.

He moved to Naperville, where he was active in Jaycees, School District 203 Career Education Advisory Council and YMCA Board of Directors.

He worked as a real estate broker and a real estate appraiser until this year.

A memorial visitation will be held at Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home and Crematory, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville, IL 60540, on Saturday, Jan. 25, at 1 p.m. with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. Light refreshments will be offered after the service.

A memorial service will be held for Roy D. Wickert on June 21, 2014, from 2-4 p.m. at Woodland Church of the Brethren. Friends and relatives are invited.
