Jane Weaver

Jane Weaver, 75, of Dixon, died April 28, 2013, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford.

She was born Aug. 13, 1937, at McDonough County Community Hospital in Macomb, a daughter of Kenneth and Evelyn Warner Cook. She married Harold "Hal" Weaver on June 12, 1960, in Macomb. He survives.

Also surviving are one nephew, Tim Keller of Table Grove; one niece, Susan (and Charles) Manthei of Indianapolis, Ind.; and one grand-nephew.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Joanne Keller.

She received a bachelor of arts degree (Magna cum Laude) in music and a master of arts degree in guidance and counseling from Western Illinois University where she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

After working for one year in Milledgeville, the Weavers moved to Dixon. In 1994, she received the prestigious "Those Who Excel" award from Illinois State Board of Education. She also coached the Scholastic Bowl team at Dixon High School for years.

She was a member of Dixon Country Club for over 40 years; Dixon Woman's Club; American Association of University Women; and Dixon Public Library Board for a period of time. Since retirement, she enjoyed volunteering at KSB Hospital and being a member of Phidian Art Club.

She was a guidance counselor at Dixon High School for 39 years, prior to her retirement in 2001.

Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 25, at First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Dixon with Rev. Lynn Bond officiating. Cremation rites have been accorded. Preston-Schilling Funeral Home in Dixon is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to Dixon Public Schools Foundation and Granny Rose Animal Shelter in Dixon.
