Leo WhiteLeo R. White, 91, of Rushville, formerly of Bushnell and Timewell, died at 9:20 p.m. July 10, 2012, at Heartland Healthcare in Macomb.

He was born Sept. 10, 1920, in Marietta, a son of Snowden and Laura Freburg White. He married Kathleen Sorrells on Oct. 17, 1946, in Bushnell. She preceded him in death on Jan. 20, 2009.

He also was preceded in death by three brothers, Dale, Les and June White; and two sisters, Hazel Barker and Dorothy Willard.

Surviving are four children, Raymond White of Rushville, Richard (and Betty) White and Roberta (and Scott) Weaver, both of Macomb and Russell (and Carol) White of Browning; two sisters, Faye Wallick of Bushnell and Ruth Kugler of Macomb; 10 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and six step great-great-grandchildren.

He served as a First Sergeant in U.S. Army during World War II, where he earned a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars.

After his discharge, he returned to Fulton County, where he began farming. In 1971, he moved to Timewell, where he continued to farm and also worked at setting up and delivering equipment, until retiring in 1993. He and his wife then moved to Rushville, where he worked for Bob Teel, retiring in late 2009.

He was a member of Bushnell VFW, Schuyler American Legion Post #4 and Timewell Lions Club.

Services were held Saturday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville with Pastor David Hughes officiating. Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery with military rites by U.S. Army Burial Detail and Schuyler American Legion Post #4.

Memorials may be made to McDonough District Hospice, Heartland Healthcare or Phoenix Opera House in Rushville.
