Dale WickertDale Samuel Wickert, 88, of Dixon died June 9, 2011, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford.

He was born June 17, 1922, in Summum, a son of Samuel M. and Alma Susan Schisler Wickert. He married Elsie Krug on June 27, 1961, in Las Vegas, Nev. She preceded him in death on July 4, 1985. He married Alice Mae Sheller on March 14, 1987, in Dixon. She survives.

Also surviving are one nephew, James Martin Wickert of Dixon; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Merlin Wickert.

He served in the United States Army during World War II, in the European Theatre.

He was a member of Dixon Church of the Brethren.

He worked for Borden's Dairy Company for 28 years and Freeman Shoe Company for 15 years, prior to his retirement in 1984.

Services were held Monday at his church with Rev. Stan Rodabaugh, pastor, officiating. Cremation rites were accorded. Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Ltd., in Dixon was in charge of arrangements.
