Francis L. “Old Man” Williams, 62, of Astoria died at 11:15 a.m. Dec. 28, 2009, at home.

He was born June 10, 1947, in Canton, a son of Francis L. and Betty Westerfield Williams.

Surviving are five sons, Christifer Williams of Springfield, Frank L. Williams III of Morton, Shane Williams of Canton, Curtis Williams of Astoria and Daniel Williams of Rome, Ill.; one brother, Mickey (and Susan) Williams of Ipava; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Gary Williams.

He was an Army veteran from 1968 to 1974.

He worked for International Harvester in Canton for 12 years. He then worked 20 years for the Operating Engineers in the construction field.

He was a member of Carrol Rankin American Legion Post #26 of Vermont.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Union Chapel Cemetery in Astoria with Sheldon Westerfield officiating. Visitation will be held from 4-6 p.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Cremation rites will be accorded following visitation.

Memorials may be made to Astoria Fire and Rescue Squad.
