Gerald R. Wilson, 86, of Escondido, Calif., formerly of Vermont, died Nov. 19, 2008, at his residence.

He was born July 7, 1922, the son of Ghlee and Maude Lyberger Wilson. He married Loretta Bernice Kridner in 1953. She preceded him in death.

Surviving are one daughter; Cynthia (and Darryl) Walker of Escondido; one sister, Virginia Remington of Lena; and two grandchildren.

He has lived in Escondido since 1964.

He owned Vermont Hardware Store prior to moving to California. After moving to California, he worked as an electrician. After retiring, he spent half his time between California and Illinois.

He was a decorated veteran of World War II and also served in the Army Air Corps.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Vermont Cemetery. Cremation rites have been accorded. Kost Memorial Home in Vermont is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to The Elizabeth Hospice of Escondido, Calif., or to a local hospice organization.
