Eunice Welker

Eunice L. Welker, 81, of Astoria died at 2:08 a.m. Feb. 12, 2009, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born Oct. 15, 1927, in Woodland Township, Fulton County, a daughter of Theodore R. and Stella G. Trone Shields. She married Gale D. Welker on June 17, 1949, in Lewistown. He died Jan. 13, 1986.

She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Fisk; and one brother, Marshall Shields.

Surviving are one daughter, Rhonda (and Gailen) Spencer of Ipava; one sister, Norma (and Bob) Shawgo of Ipava; and four grandchildren.

She was co-owner of Welker Auto Repair in Astoria and was a Green Thumb worker at Astoria Community District #1 for many years.

She was a member of Astoria Christian Church.

Services were held Saturday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria with Mark Bledsoe officiating. Burial was in Astoria Cemetery. Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria was in charge of arrangements.
