Audrey Wells

Audrey Wells, 80, of Boonville, Ind., died Jan. 29, 1999, at Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne, Fla.

He was born Nov. 8, 1918, in Jefferson County, Ill., a son of William Green and Fern Beatrice Bean Wells.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Wells of Boonville; two sons, Gary Wells of Melbourne and Gregory Wells of Cleveland, Ohio; one daughter, Beverly Wurm of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Marion Wells of Sesser and James Wells of Pulaski, Tenn.; three sisters, Opal Lloyd of Woodriver, Leila Merkel of Sesser and Norma Jean Burleson of Belleville; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A World War II Army veteran, he served in the 866th Anti-Aircraft Group in the Pacific. He was a member and past master of Vermont Lodge #116 in Vermont. He was a retired coal miner from the Amax Coal Co. in Evansville, Ind. He was a past secretary of the Local United Mine Workers Union in Astoria.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Bisch Funeral Home, 505 East Allen St., Springfield, Ill. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday agt the funeral home. Masonic services will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
