Doris C. Wixom, 88, of Vermont, died at 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 12, 1995, at the McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
She was born Aug. 6, 1907 in Galesburg, a daughter of Theodore and Lillian Oviatt Cox. She married Robert N. Wixom on Aug. 29, 1934, in Galesburg. He survives.
Also surviving are one son, Ted Wixom of Lexington, Ky.; one daughter, Catherine Wixom of McHenry; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Nunziato, Margaret Lauer, John Mathews, Cheryl DiVita; and six great-grandchildren.
She was a 1928 graduate of Knox College and taught school in Rushville and at V.I.T. in Table Grove. She was a member of the Vermont Christian Church, PEO in Rushville, and was a member and Past Matron of Vermont OES.
Cremation rites have been accorded by the Kost Memorial Home in Vermont and graveside burial of ashes will be Sunday, Sept. 24 at 2 p.m. at the Vermont Cemetery. Burial of her sister’s ashes, Sybil Cox, who died Aug. 11, 1995, will be first followed by Mrs. Wixom’s ashes with Rev. Clint Palmer officiating.
Memorials for both may be to the Vermont Christian Church.
