Robert West

Robert L. West, 70, of Goodfield, died at 1:50 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 1992, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.

He was born Jan. 9, 1922, in Pleasant Hill, Ohio, a son of Samuel and Pearl Oaks West. He married Doris M. Schisler on May 28, 1945 in Astoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Lowell of Elizabethtown, Pa., and Michael of Fort Wayne, Ind.; four grandchildren; three brothers, John of Covington, Ohio, Kenneth of Goshen, Ind., and Jim of Fletcher, Ohio; and one sister, Jean Byrd of Pleasant Hill, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

He was a farm service feed salesman and was Woodford County Animal Control Officer for two years. He taught in Berne, Ind., Astoria and Normal. He was principal and teacher at Goodfield Grade School from 1956 to 1980 and was acting principal at Congerville Grade School. He was a member of Peoria First Church of the Brethren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at his church, with Rev. Christopher Bowman officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. this evening at Otto-Argo Funeral Home in Eureka and one hour before the services at the church. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Deer Creek.

Memorials may be made to the Eureka Rescue Squad or his church.
