VeteranJ. Dale Ward Dies At Age 94

J. Dale Ward, 94, of rural Rushville died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, 1990, at St. Luke’s Health Care Center in Beardstown.

He was born July 19, 1896, in Schuyler County, a son of James A. and Estella Persinger Ward. He married Mabel E. Wilson on Feb. 28, 1921, in Quincy. She died June 27, 1988.

Surviving are one granddaughter, Crystal Johnson, and one grandson, James Dale Ward, both of Mount Sterling; one sister, Irene Scott of Astoria; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one son, Dale, one brother and one sister.

A farmer, he served on the Brown County Board for 12 years and was an official for Brown County Harness Races for 25 years. He was a World War I Army veteran and a member of Schuyler American Legion Post 4.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville with Rev. Tom Ross officiating. Burial was in Persinger Cemetery in Schuyler County.
