VeteranJohn W. Warfield Dies At Age 81

John W. Warfield, 81, of Cuba, died at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 12, 1990, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.

He was born Jan. 29, 1907, in Ipava, the son of George L. and Neva (Little) Warfield. He married Mary (Cozad) Bishop on March 3, 1946, in Peoria. She survives.

Other survivors include two sons, John W. Warfield of Wataga and Jimmy Dean Warfield; three daughters, Mrs. Judy Rouse of Las Vegas, Nev., Miss Barbara Warfield, and Mrs. Gladys Estes of Cuba; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two brothers, Charlie Warfield of Canton and Donald Warfield of Florida; and two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Aurenhelmer of Glendale, Ariz. and Mrs. Kathryn Simpson of Mesa, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by two grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters.

He was a former Putman Township road commissioner and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Russell Smith American Legion Post in Cuba.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at the Hukill-Henry Memorial Home in Cuba. Burial was at Howard Cemetery in rural Smithfield where military rites were conducted by the Cuba American Legion Post.

Memorials may be made to the Havana Health Care Center in Havana.
