Bessie J. Welker, 77, of Havana died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday, July 31, 1980, in Mason District Hospital in Havana.
She was born June 28, 1903, in Fulton County, a daughter of Fred and Lucy Beaty Smith. She married Orley Welker, Sr., June 1, 1956, in Havana.
Surviving are her husband; one son, Ron Bassett of Bartonville; one daughter, Mrs. Betty Hodges of Peoria; a stepson, Orley Welker, Jr. of Havana; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Artha Cox of Creve Coeur and Corda Smith of Summum; and one brother, Loren Smith of Jacksonville.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2 in Hurley Funeral Home with Rev. L. Arvil Bass officiating. Burial was in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
