Susan A. Windherst Dies At Age 104

Mrs. Susan A. Windherst, 104-year-old resident of Astoria, died Wednesday morning, Nov. 17, at the Havana Nursing Home where she had been a patient for the past five years.

Mrs. Windherst was born Nov. 8, 1861 in Astoria, the daughter of Lemuel and Mary Bader Hopkins. She had been an Astoria resident most of her life. She married John W. Windherst on Jan. 31, 1878. He died in 1914. She was a member of the Astoria Christian Church.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Fern Frank and Mrs. Bracie Wells, both of Chicago and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, one infant child, three grandchildren, two sisters and five brothers.

Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Astoria Cemetery. The Rev. Joseph Gift officiated.
