Bonnie VaughnBonnie Nell (Bartlow) Vaughn, 87, of rural Rushville died at 5:38 p.m. Oct. 4, 2019, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

She was born Dec. 5, 1931, on the Bartlow farm near Rushville, a daughter of Norris and Alice Burnside Bartlow. She married Keith Vaughn on Aug. 22, 1953, in Rushville. He survives.

Also surviving are three children, Brenda (and Craig) Boyd of Jacksonville, Jim (and Nancy) Vaughn and Linda (and Mike) Arnold, all of Tucson, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Byron Bartlow; and one sister, Norma (and Vernon) Chute.

She attended Tullus and Parrott one-room schools and graduated from Rushville High School in 1949. She attended Greenville College for two years and worked at the USDA office in Rushville. During her years as a farmer’s wife near Camden, she drove the tractor and combine, hauled grain, tended a large garden and fed the various farm animals.

She was instrumental in creating the Camden School Community Club, was a member of the Schuyler Home Extension and helped with her children’s 4-H Clubs and projects. She and her family operated Vaughn’s Fresh Air Vacation Farm.

She was an active and devoted member of Rushville Free Methodist Church, especially the children’s ministries. She supported many missions, including traveling to the Dominican Republic. She was committed to leading children to Christ through numerous organizations, including Bible Memory Association.

Services were held Tuesday at her church with Reverends Craig Coulter (of Tucson) and David Ball officiating. Burial was in the Rushville City Cemetery. Wood Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of arrangements.
