Byron BartlowByron B. Bartlow, 78, of Rushville, died at 1:38 p.m. June 28, 2009, at Prairie-view Care Center in Lewistown.

He was born Sept. 7, 1930, in Schuyler County, a son of Norris C. and Alice Burnside Bartlow. He married Shirley Wheelhouse on Aug. 13, 1949, in Mount Sterling. She survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Terri (and Joe) Burke of Rushville and Kathy (and Paul) Burton of Browning; one son, Mike (and Julie) Bartlow of Rushville; two sisters, Bonnie (and Keith) Vaughn of Rushville and Norma (and Vernon) Chute of Greenville; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy.

He was a school bus driver for Schuyler Unit School District #1 for over 30 years, before retiring. He coached little league for several years and was a member of Rushville High School football chain gang for 28 years.

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder.

Services will be held today at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Rushville with Rev. Steve Akins officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville City Cemetery. Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be made to his church or Alzheimer’s Association.
