She was born Feb. 23, 1941, in Marietta, a daughter of William and Vada Postin Havens. She married Roland “Gene” Thompson on July 25, 1959, in Smithfield. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2012.
She also was preceded in death by eight siblings, Alice Head, Betty English, Bill Havens, Frank Havens, Wilma Virag, Jim Havens, Susie Benham and Bob Havens.
Surviving are two children, Roland “Tug” (and Nita) Thompson of Vermont and Alice (and Steve) Smith of Decatur, Ala.; one brother, Ronnie Havens of Tennessee, Ill.; three sisters, Birtie Winters of New York, Shirley Grahm of Cuba and Sara Stehl of Marietta; seven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
She had a great life and was very family oriented with husband Roland Sr. raising a son and daughter and the many grandchildren and great-grandchildren that followed.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Martin-Hollis Funeral Home in Bushnell where visitation will be held one hour prior with Pastor Jim Eddy officiating. Burial will be in the Marietta Cemetery.
